Jewish Religious Services at New Horizons at Marlborough

At New Horizons at Marlborough, Jewish residents and their families enjoy a welcoming community that celebrates faith and tradition year-round. Guided by longtime spiritual leader Arlene Lemieux, the community offers Shabbat services, High Holy Day observances, and full holiday celebrations for seniors in Marlborough, MA and the Metrowest Boston area.
A Legacy of Faith and Community
For more than three decades, New Horizons has provided a warm, inclusive environment for residents of all faiths. Our vibrant Jewish community is lovingly guided by Arlene Lemieux, who began serving residents just months after our senior living community opened in 1994. Arlene remains at the heart of Jewish life at New Horizons, leading meaningful services, organizing cherished holiday celebrations, and fostering lasting spiritual connections.
Jewish Services and Holiday Celebrations
Our Jewish programming includes a full calendar of services and holiday observances throughout the year, allowing residents to celebrate their heritage and faith in a supportive community setting:
• Weekly Sabbath (Shabbat) services and ritual celebrations
• High Holy Day services, including Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, with an annual memorial service
• Blowing of the Shofar and Break-the-Fast meal
• Sukkot and Simchat Torah celebrations
• Hanukkah candle lighting and community celebration
• Tu B’Shevat and Purim festivities
• Complete Passover Seder
• Shavuot services and traditional observances
These gatherings invite both Jewish and non-Jewish residents to share in the joy, reflection, and fellowship that define New Horizons’ spiritual life.
Personalized Spiritual Support
Beyond leading services, Arlene provides compassionate pastoral care to residents and their families. She visits those who are ill, makes hospital and home visits, and offers comfort through memorial services and funerals. Arlene’s warmth and attentiveness extend through well-wishing phone calls and personal check-ins, ensuring residents feel cared for in every season of life.
Over the years, she has also marked special moments for residents—officiating a wedding re-vow ceremony and even naming a newborn granddaughter—celebrations that reflect the deep, enduring relationships she has built within the New Horizons community.
Interfaith Engagement and Connection
In her early years, Arlene served on New Horizons’ Board of Directors as a representative for Jewish residents. She has long participated in interfaith services and seasonal gatherings with clergy of other faiths. Her inclusive approach enriches spiritual life for everyone at New Horizons at Marlborough, fostering mutual respect and unity among residents of all backgrounds.
“Working at New Horizons for the past 30 years has been my greatest joy,” said Arlene. “I am honored to have had this opportunity to represent our Jewish residents, as well as the many non-Jewish friends who have joined us in celebration and remembrance.”
