New Horizons at Marlborough is a not-for-profit retirement community that is owned by Cummings Foundation. One of the three largest private foundations in New England, the Foundation strives to give back in the areas where it owns commercial buildings, all of which are managed on a pro bono basis by its for-profit affiliate, Cummings Properties.
Supporting Local Communities
To date, the Cummings organization has gifted more than $260 million to local charities throughout greater Boston, with the majority of its efforts focusing on nonprofits in Essex, Middlesex, and Suffolk counties. Cummings Foundation Grant Beneficiaries
Foundation grantees enrich the communities around them by providing a diverse array of services, including healthcare, advocacy programs, education, affordable housing, violence prevention, and so many more. As the Marlborough community is of such great importance to New Horizons, the Foundation considers the city a high-priority area for grant-making and has awarded more than $2 million to Marlborough-based charities in recent years. Neighboring communities from which many New Horizons at Marlborough residents hail have also received substantial funding. The organizations below have been granted at least $100,000 each:
Thank You, Boys & Girls Clubs of MetroWest
In 2019, this Marlborough-based youth organization presented Cummings Foundation with its Community Partner for Youth Award in honor of the Foundation’s substantial investment in the Club and the city of Marlborough as a whole.
