New Horizons at Marlborough is pleased to announce that Marcos’ Villas, new independent living apartments for seniors will soon be available for occupancy. With the addition of these one- and two-bedroom apartments, New Horizons will have more than 250 independent residences.
Marcos’ Villas are named for New Horizons’ executive chef, Marcos’ DeOliveira. The Framingham resident and 12-year veteran of the senior living community came up with the idea to repurpose a former storage area into seven new homes.
Marcos’ Villas have backdoor access to more than 100 acres of conservation land. These street level apartments offer easy access to the outside for people with pets or for those who enjoy gardening or other outside activities. Consistent with all independent apartments at New Horizons, they feature full kitchens, large tiled baths, and in-unit washer/dryers. Each villa has wall-to-wall carpeting and ceramic plank tile flooring.
“Marcos’ Villas is an exciting new addition to our campus,” said Andy Eick, executive director of New Horizons at Marlborough. “These new homes were designed with younger seniors in mind, similar to our cottages, which have always been highly sought after.”
According to Eick, a core benefit of residing in Marcos’ Villas or any New Horizons apartment is thatmar residents never have to worry about mowing the lawn, adjusting the water heater, shoveling in the winter, or making home repairs. The retirement community employs more than 35 maintenance, custodial, and housekeeping staff dedicated to providing this support.
New Horizons offers several amenities that are unusual for retirement communities. The campus features a large indoor swimming pool, fitness center, an apothecary and general store, and a hair salon. In addition, the non-sectarian community offers regular religious services for Protestant and Jewish faiths, as well as daily Catholic Mass.
Owned by Cummings Foundation, one of the largest private foundations in New England, New Horizons is home to more than 400 seniors. The 24-year-old community is located on a scenic 40-acre campus at 400 Hemenway Street.
New Horizons also currently has a “rate freeze” for new residents, guaranteeing no increase for at least five years to the basic monthly fee. This fee includes all charges for lodging, meals, water, heat, air conditioning, cable TV, local telephone service, parking, and regular maintenance.
